Summer fun in Winter

Good evening, tonight is the eve before all my Christmas decorations go up and I am glad to have just finished another commission so that I can concentrate on making my home spectacularly Christmassy!

So this commission is for Lynn and is a special one for her as it's a painting of her two sons, their puppy and a place the family love to go on holiday to - Criccieth. Having never been there myself, I feel like I now know it particularly well. This painting was made from watercolour, acrylic and pen and ink to finish, on watercolour paper. This will be made as a postcard size print to add to my collection.

Next in line are some wooden name plaques for some gorgeous little children...check back soon!

Love is...

So I may be jumping ahead a couple of months but have already got Valentine's on my mind...have you? With December barely upon us, and the weather really only just starting to make us shiver (well, in North Wales it is anyway), I have taken to thinking about what love means to me and the colours that I feel it in. Love for me is a traditional and old-worldly sentiment that spans thousands of years. It isn't new, bright and perky, but time-defying and vintage. Here I've put together three love prints that are in three different shades - Plum, Smoky, and Evergreen.

Autumnal baby commission

Hurray, pulled out the stops today to finish a new baby commission. I tried out a few different techniques with this one, mixing watercolour and acrylic, then finishing off with a fine liner. I debated whether or not to use the fine liner as it stripped away some of the 3d effect, but overall it's added to the jovial scenery and colours.

I also decided to play around with some of the colours on the photographed version....What do you think?

...owls and blossom

Here's another name plaque, currently a work in progress whilst I've lots of other orders to get on with, and need to tend to each of them lovingly. My dear friends over at RAW adventures in Nant Peris have asked for a nautical version for newborn Jude, and a flowery/owl version for their little Libby. Do you know anyone who would love their own name plaque, with a style that they love? Fairies and woodland creatures, shabby chic, vintage or nautical?

Wooden Name Plaques

Hurray, I have finished a wooden name plaque for Tom...well, not my Tom of course, but whichever Tom would love to be the owner of this seafaring illustration. On the back I have stuck my 'eden with pencils' logo sticker and signed it by me and where I am.

It has taken a little longer to get through than planned simply because other projects beckoned, but I devoted some time today to work on it, and my finishing touch with a fabric flag has made it worthwhile. And it doesn't stop there. This one was relatively quick to prepare, illustrate and paint, measuring 22cm x 7cm with a simple design. My next one is a little grander, more decorative and hopefully will be even more beautiful! I've plenty of wood to try out lots of different names and have a list of designs to work on. Can't wait!!

Etsy & Folksy

So I decided to hit both Etsy and Folksy sites with my Christmas cards and some art prints. I wonder which will do better?
